Properties of Glass Blocks
Light from a glass block panel becomes soft, uniform, and stable. This results from the joints of the glass block panel which serve as a grille louver for sunlight control. In addition, glass block patterns either obstruct vision or permit transparency.
The glass block is a light-transmitting sound insulator. Among lighting materials, it offers excellent sound insulation. For example, the noise of a street is reduced to the level of a quiet office room at low frequencies (125Hz) and to the midnight level in a quiet residential section at high frequencies (2000Hz). The sound insulating property of this glass block can be used effectively in a busy street or near factories.
Too much loaded heat of sunlight through the ordinary window glass is sometimes a very important problem. Compared with ordinary window glass, glass block panels let in soft light by limiting solar heat. The Solar Reflective Glass Block enhances this effect. The reflectivity of glass block panels can effectively be used in a hot climate region.
